Lawrence Ian Reed is a clinical assistant professor at New York University. He completed his clinical internship at McLean Hospital/Harvard Medical School in 2010. He is interested in basic and applied research related to facial expression, emotion, and cooperation. His current research examines the communicative and commitment functions of facial expressions.

He has clinical experience treating clients across many diagnostic categories, age ranges, and ethnicities. In addition, he has a specialization in treating adolescents and adults with mood (e.g. depression and anxiety) and emotional disorders (i.e. borderline personality disorder). Many of his treatment methods are drawn from cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavior therapy.
